Bronx River High School has chosen the Chancellor’s Model #2. If you have decided to send your student back to school, their classes will be split into 3 groups: Group A, Group B, Group C. Each group only attends in person on the days listed below. The other days students will be learning remotely.
Not sure which group your student is in?
New updates as of 9/1/20:
- FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL – SEPTEMBER 16
September 16-19 REMOTE orientation for all students
All blended and remote students will attend a virtual orientation for these three days.
September 21 – in person school begins. This will begin the Week 1 schedule listed above and blended students will attend on the days of their group. Remote students will log in everyday.
- MANDATORY DAILY ATTENDANCE
Office hours were optional in the spring, but this year students will be required to attend everyday. Students are expected to log in and attend live instruction with teachers every single day. Students who are fully remote OR blended on their home days will have a schedule of when to log into their classes.
- LAPTOPS / TABLETS
Students who are in blended learning will not have to bring their laptop or tablet to school when they come in person. Laptops will be provided to them while they are in school. They will use the same laptop all day and the same laptop every time they come to school.
- ALL UPDATES NOW POSTED ON WEBSITE (bronxriverhs.org)
We will continue to send updates to the parent and student email addresses on file. We will also post the updates here so you can access them any time.
Previously Announced Updates:
- NO UNIFORM
BRHS will not be enforcing the uniform policy during blended learning. Students should still come in school appropriate clothing.
- SCHOOL START TIME IS NOW 9:00 AM
There will be no dedicated lunch period and students will be eating lunch during class. Therefore, we are shortening the school day by one period.
- CELL PHONES WILL BE ALLOWED
Students will not have to check their electronic devices at scanning when they come to school. Use of the devices during class is up to the teacher.
- FACE MASKS REQUIRED
All staff and students will be required to wear face masks covering their nose and mouth the entire school day. Social distancing will be enforced.
- TEMPERATURE CHECKS
Staff and students should expect to have their temperature checked before entering the building each day. Anyone with a fever will be quarantined, assessed, and need to be picked up.
- REMAINING IN THE ROOM
Students will be scheduled to stay in the same room with the same
group of students as much as possible with teachers rotating rooms.
- EVERYONE NEEDS TECHNOLOGY
Each student needs a laptop or a tablet to complete their work in school and from home. If you do not have one, please request one from the DOE as soon as possible. https://coronavirus.schools.nyc/remotelearningdevices
