BRHS Newspaper wins 3 awards from Baruch College
The Bronx River News won 2nd place in the news category for its red-light crossing story in a citywide competition at the Baruch College High School Journalism Conference on Friday. BRHS won this award against established newspapers at Stuyvesant High School, Francis Scott Key High School, Townsend High School and other elite schools. Congrats to Sara Singh and Elvia Serrano for writing and reporting and Adriana Sadiku, Katie Ordaz and Arleth Vargas for helping collect the evidence.
Sara and Elvia also won 2nd place for their sports story on the volleyball team’s upset win over Bronx Science in the New Newspaper category. And last year’s seniors, Parmeshwar Singh, Lidia Gomez, Perry Williams Jr, Kristyn Brown, Oscar Diaz Cuadra and Bryan Garcia, took home first in the New Newspaper category for their opinion piece reflecting on their four years at BRHS. The newspaper also won second for school news in the New Newspaper Category.
